ON APRIL 1, 2019, THE HOUSE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 283, AS AMENDED.<br /> <br /> AMENDMENT #1 clarifies that for the offense of aggravated rape of a child, the applicable sentencing provisions will apply, no sentencing hearing will be conducted, and the judge will sentence the person convicted of the offense to imprisonment for life without the possibility of parole.<br /> <br />
