ON MARCH 31, 2022, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 735, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 rewrites this bill. Present law requires that counties be reimbursed for housing convicted felons pursuant to the general appropriations act and according to rules and regulations for determining reasonable allowable costs as promulgated by the department of correction, in consultation with the comptroller of the treasury. This amendment adds a requirement for reimbursement to counties for housing state parolees awaiting a parole revocation hearing.
