Amends TCA Section 50-6-226.

Present law generally caps attorney's fees in in workers' compensation cases at 20 percent of the amount recovered. Present law also authorizes the court of workers' compensation claims to award reasonable attorneys' fees and reasonable costs incurred when the employer in a workers' compensation case: (1) Fails to furnish appropriate medical benefits pursuant to a workers' compensation settlement agreement, expedited hearing order, compensation hearing order, or judgment; or (2) Only for injuries that occur between July 1, 2016, and June 30, 2020, wrongfully denies a claim or wrongfully fails to timely initiate any workers' compensation benefits to which the employee or dependent is entitled, if the workers' compensation judge makes a finding that the benefits were owed at an expedited hearing or compensation hearing. This bill authorizes the court of workers' compensation claims to award attorneys' fees and costs under (2) for injuries that occur between July 1, 2021, and June 30, 2023.
