Amends TCA Title 56; Title 63 and Title 68.

This bill authorizes unlicensed graduates and students of certain medical training programs to provide telehealth services as long as those graduates and students adhere to the same standards for the provision of telehealth services that licensed medical professionals must meet. This bill applies to a graduate who has completed, or a student actively enrolled in, a professional training program the educational standards of which meet the training requirements for a license, as long as the graduate or student: (1) Is providing telehealth services for the purpose of obtaining hours required for licensure or of otherwise fulfilling the educational requirements to apply for licensure; and (2) Is, at all times, supervised by a licensed individual. ON MARCH 22, 2021, THE HOUSE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 508, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 clarifies that this bill applies under both definitional provisions for "healthcare provider" in the present law statute regarding telehealth and the provider-patient relationship and standard of care (one such definitional section is temporary in nature, but the other is permanent in nature).
