Amends TCA Title 71.

This bill extends the nursing home annual assessment fee to June 30, 2022. Under present law, the total aggregated amount of assessments for all nursing facilities from July 1, 2020, through June 30, 2021, is 4.75 percent of the net patient service revenue; present law also establishes how the annual assessment amount is to be determined. This bill adjusts all applicable dates throughout the present law provisions to reflect the extension of the assessment pursuant to this bill.<br /> <br /> ON MAY 3, 2021, THE HOUSE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 556, AS AMENDED.<br /> <br /> AMENDMENT #1 authorizes, for the purpose of nursing home assessments, the bureau of TennCare to allow for one mid-year adjustment to be established prior to January 1. Also, under present law, if any part of any assessment fee is not paid on or before the due date, a penalty of 5 percent of the amount accrues and is added to such assessment fee. Thereafter, on the first day of each month during which any part of any assessment fee or any prior accrued penalty remains unpaid, an additional penalty of 5 percent of the then unpaid balance accrues and is added to such assessment fee or prior accrued penalty. This amendment:<br /> <br /> (1) Specifies such provision above applies to quarterly assessment fees; and <br /> <br /> (2) Revises such provision to provide that on the first of each month during which a part of a quarterly assessment fee remains unpaid, an additional penalty of 5 percent of the original quarterly assessment fee balance is imposed.<br />
