ON FEBRUARY 28, 2022, THE HOUSE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 563, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 clarifies that a professional bondsman's capacity must be "at least 20 times the amount of the collateral pledged" instead of "not less than 20 times the amount of the collateral pledged". ON MARCH 14, 2022, THE SENATE SUBSTITUTED HOUSE BILL 563 FOR SENATE BILL 472, ADOPTED AMENDMENT #2, AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 563, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #2 removes the changes made by House Amendment #1 to require that, where the collateral pledged is cash or an item readily converted to cash such as a certificate of deposit, a professional bondsman's capacity must be "not less than 15 times the amount of the collateral pledged."
