One of the eligibility conditions for receipt of unemployment compensation under present law is that the claimant be unemployed for a waiting period of one week. A claimant is entitled to benefits for the waiting period, if the claimant has made a claim for benefits and is determined to be eligible and certified for benefits in the waiting period and in each of the three consecutive weeks immediately following the waiting period. This bill removes the requirement that a claimant be eligible for benefits in each of the three consecutive weeks immediately following the waiting period in order to be entitled payment of benefits for the waiting period.
