ON MARCH 31, 2022, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 535, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 rewrites this bill to prohibit local governmental entities from paying, compensating, awarding, or remitting funds in the form of, or facilitating the conversion of compensation or funds to, blockchain, cryptocurrency, non-fungible tokens, or virtual currency to an individual person, corporation, or other entity (or procuring the services for the performance of any such actions) without the prior written approval of the state treasurer. The provisions of this amendment are repealed on June 30, 2025.
