ON APRIL 8, 2021, THE SENATE LIFTED THE TABLING MOTION, RECONSIDERED ITS ACTIONS IN PASSING SENATE BILL 702, ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1, AND PASSED SENATE BILL 702, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 rewrites this bill and revises present law provisions regarding the examination to become licensed as a dentist. Under present law, the examination may be written or oral, or both; must include subjects as may be designated by the board; and may also include practical tests, working operations, and demonstrations, within the discretion of the board. This amendment adds that an examination may be conducted on a live human patient or a non-patient-based model may be used. ON APRIL 29, 2021, THE HOUSE SUBSTITUTED SENATE BILL 702 FOR HOUSE BILL 1284, ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1, AND PASSED SENATE BILL 702, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 incorporates the changes made by Senate Amendment #1 and reorganizes the order in which provisions concerning the examination to become licensed as a dentist appear in Tennessee Code Annotated.
