Amends TCA Title 22.

ON APRIL 12, 2021, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND RESET SENATE BILL 1296, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 increases from 70 to 75 the age at which this bill would authorize a person to seek exemption from jury service and adds a requirement that the person be incapable of performing jury service because of a mental or physical condition. This amendment replaces the form affidavit that this bill would require with a declaration, which may be completed by the person seeking exemption from jury service or the person's personal representative. ON APRIL 12, 2021, THE HOUSE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 1303, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 makes the same changes as those described above in the summary for Senate Amendment #1. ON APRIL 14, 2021, THE SENATE SUBSTITUTED HOUSE BILL 1303 FOR SENATE BILL 1296. HOUSE BILL 1303 FAILED TO RECEIVE A CONSTITUTIONAL MAJORITY AND WAS RE-REFERRED TO THE CALENDAR COMMITTEE.
