Amends TCA Title 68, Chapter 104.

Present law requires the fire marshal to establish a program of certification for outdoor fireworks display operators, proximate pyrotechnic display operators and flame effect display operators. One of the requirements for certification that is applicable to all such operators is that the applicant must show that the applicant has worked under competent supervision on at least three displays in each area in which certification is desired in the three years immediately preceding the application. This bill revises this requirement to be as follows:<br /> <br /> (1) For an outdoor fireworks display operator applicant, the applicant must show that the applicant has worked under competent supervision on at least three outdoor fireworks displays in the three years immediately preceding the application;<br /> <br /> (2) For a proximate pyrotechnic display operator applicant, the applicant must show that the applicant has worked under competent supervision on at least five proximate pyrotechnic displays in the three years immediately preceding the application; and<br /> <br /> (3) For a flame effect display operator, the applicant must show that the applicant has worked under competent supervision on at least five flame effect displays in the three years immediately preceding the application.<br /> <br /> Under present law, the certification is valid for two years and is renewable. This bill increases the period of validity of a certification from two to three years.<br />
