ON FEBRUARY 7, 2022, THE HOUSE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 1677, AS AMENDED.<br /> <br /> AMENDMENT #1 rewrites this bill and adds to the present law provisions governing special meetings of a county legislative body that if notice of a special meeting under the present law requirements to give at least five days' notice by publishing in a newspaper in the county or sending personal notice or service cannot be obtained in a manner timely enough to conduct the necessary business of the special meeting, then the county legislative body must provide notice to the public by:<br /> <br /> (1) Posting the notice in a location where a member of the community may become aware of such notice and on a website maintained by the county if the county has a website;<br /> <br /> (2) Including in the contents of the notice a reasonable description of the purpose of the meeting or action to be taken; and<br /> <br /> (3) Posting the notice at a time sufficiently in advance of the special meeting in order to give citizens an opportunity to become aware of and attend the meeting.<br /> <br /> ON MARCH 24, 2022, THE SENATE SUBSTITUTED HOUSE BILL 1677 FOR SENATE BILL 1774, ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1, AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 1677, AS AMENDED.<br /> <br /> AMENDMENT #1 adds that the notice described above in (3) of the summary for House Amendment #1 must be posted at least five days before the county legislative body convenes for the special meeting.<br />
