ON MARCH 10, 2022, THE HOUSE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 1970, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 requires that a candidate for clerk of a general sessions, circuit, criminal, or other special court be a qualified voter of the county and resident of the county for one year prior to the date of the qualifying deadline for running as a candidate for the office.
