This bill revises provisions governing child protective investigations.<br /> <br /> Present law requires the department of children's services to coordinate the services of child protective teams and to convene the appropriate team when a report of child sexual abuse has been received. This bill additionally requires the convening of a team when there is a report of severe child abuse, and revises various present law provisions, including mandatory child abuse report provisions, to reflect this addition. In the provisions governing mandatory reporting, this bill adds that in cases involving a report of harm alleging facts that, if proved, would constitute severe child abuse, the investigation must be conducted by a child protective investigation team. In the event an immediate investigation has been initiated, the department must notify the child protection team as soon as possible, and the team must proceed with the investigation in accordance with present law provisions governing child protective teams.<br />
