Amends TCA Title 68, Chapter 121.

Present law requires an inspection and testing before an operating permit will be issued for a new or altered elevator, dumbwaiter, and escalator. The inspections and tests are to be made under the supervision of an elevator inspector licensed and employed by the state. <br /> <br /> Present law generally authorizes the elevator and amusement device safety board to prescribe the fees for construction permits, operating permits, acceptance inspections, initial inspections, and periodic inspections for new and existing elevators, dumbwaiters, and escalators. Present law specifically limits the maximum amount of the following fees:<br /> <br /> (1) The installer of an elevator, dumbwaiter, escalator, or moving walk must pay an inspection fee not to exceed $100; and<br /> <br /> (2) The installer of an aerial passenger tramway must pay an inspection fee not to exceed $200.<br /> <br /> This bill deletes the statutory maximums in (1) and (2).<br /> <br /> Present law requires payment of a fee, not to exceed $300 annually, for:<br /> <br /> (1) The issuing of construction permits for each new or altered elevator, dumbwaiter, escalator, moving walk, or aerial passenger tramway; and<br /> <br /> (2) The acceptance inspection and each unscheduled follow-up inspection following the construction or alteration of an elevator, dumbwaiter, escalator, moving walk, or aerial passenger tramway.<br /> <br /> This bill changes present law by making the $300 limit apply to the fees generally rather than annually.<br />
