ON MARCH 17, 2022, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 2430, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 extends the reporting requirement until 2025, instead of indefinitely. This amendment also requires the comptroller to conduct a review of the retail accountability program in present law, regarding the reporting required for sales of food, candy, and nonalcoholic beverages, to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the program. The comptroller must report the findings and conclusions to the speakers of the senate and the house and the chairs of the finance, ways and means committees by November 1, 2024.
