Amends TCA Title 2.
ON APRIL 27, 2022, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 2558, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 rewrites this bill to require that, on and after January 1, 2024, each voting machine used by a county election commission must produce a voter-verifiable paper audit trail, instead of being capable of producing a voter-verified paper audit trail. A county election commission will remain eligible to apply to the coordinator of elections for an extension of up to two years if necessary to comply with such requirement. This amendment defines "voter-verifiable paper audit trail" to mean a paper record that is marked either manually by the voter or with the assistance of a device that includes human-readable voter selections that the voter may check for accuracy before the vote is cast.
