ON MARCH 17, 2022, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 2343, AS AMENDED.<br /> <br /> AMENDMENT #1 adds that the study must survey projects initiated over the past 10 years involving the initiation of new state-sponsored Amtrak intercity passenger rail. This amendment also adds the following:<br /> <br /> (1) In assembling the report, TACIR must collect data from at least three state departments of transportation that have successfully initiated or are in the process of initiating new Amtrak intercity passenger rail service; and<br /> <br /> (2) Information to be assembled must include, but not be limited to, the stakeholders involved, the process by which the new service was negotiated among the stakeholders, all costs related to establishing the new service, ridership estimates, and other matters that will inform the general assembly on successful launching of the surveyed service. <br /> <br /> This amendment also changes the reporting date from January 31, 2023, to July 1, 2023.<br />
