Amends TCA Title 38, Chapter 8, Part 1 and Title 41.

Subject to appropriations, this bill provides each county correctional officer employed full time by a county with a pay supplement in addition to the officer's regular salary in an amount equal to $800 from the county for each calendar year that the officer completes at least 40 hours of in-service training during a calendar year that is commiserate with the officer's rank and experience. The training must be received at a school, an agency, or by personnel approved by the county legislative body. <br /> <br /> This bill authorizes counties to collaborate with and utilize the Tennessee peace officer standards and training commission for purposes of carrying out this bill. <br /> <br /> This bill specifies that the $800 pay supplement is a bonus for the successful completion of training and is not considered part of the county correctional officer's salary for a subsequent year's determination of supplemental pay or for retirement purposes.<br />
