Amends TCA Title 53 and Title 70.

This bill adds, under the Tennessee Meat and Poultry Inspection Act, that the provisions of the Act requiring inspection of the slaughter of livestock, deer, and poultry, and the preparation of carcasses, parts of carcasses, meat, and meat food products at establishments conducting those operations do not apply to the slaughtering of exotic animals or the preparation and transportation in intrastate commerce of exotic animals if: (A) The exotic animals are exclusively for donation by a hunter to a bona fide charitable or nonprofit organization that operates a food bank or on-site feeding program, or both, for free distribution of food to combat poverty and hunger; (B) The slaughter or preparation is conducted at the premises where the hunter killed the exotic animal, the hunter's premises, or at a custom slaughterhouse; and (C) The transportation is limited to moving the carcass or meat from the exotic animal to and from: the premises of the hunter who killed the exotic animal, the custom slaughterhouse, and the charitable or nonprofit organization; or the premises where the hunter killed the exotic animal, the custom slaughterhouse, and the charitable or nonprofit organization. This bill defines "exotic animal" as a member of a species of game that is not indigenous to this state, including wild-appearing swine. This bill specifies that an article described above in (A) must not be combined with a meat food product regulated under the Federal Meat Inspection Act or a poultry product regulated under the federal Poultry Products Inspection Act. This bill further specifies that it does not authorize the hunting or taking of an exotic animal in a manner that is prohibited by law.
