Amends TCA Title 49, Chapter 6.
This bill requires each LEA and public charter school to annually provide age-appropriate instruction on the events of September 11, 2001, to public school students in kindergarten through grade 12. This bill encourages that the instruction occur at a certain time, last for a specific period of time, and include specific phrases, among other things. This bill requires the department of education to provide LEAs and public charter schools with age and grade appropriate resources and materials that may be used to educate students about September 11, 2001. LEAs and public charter schools will determine the resources and materials to be used for the instruction. This bill is scheduled to be repealed on July 1, 2025.
