Amends TCA Title 36 and Title 37.

Beginning July 1, 2022, this bill requires the department of children's services to annually require any person receiving federal or state-funded adoption assistance from the department for adopting a child to provide the department with medical records from the adopted child's annual physical examination or similar documentation from a medical or mental health professional or verification of full-time school enrollment from the school the child attends. This bill requires the department to develop forms to be used for such verifications. This bill authorizes the department to initiate a visit to ascertain the well-being of the child if the person fails to provide the documentation required by this bill. ON MARCH 11, 2021, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1, AND PASSED SENATE BILL 270, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 allows a person receiving adoption assistance to provide the department with verification from the adopted child's current medical or mental health professional provider or verification of full-time school enrollment from the school the child attends. This amendment specifies that the verification forms must not require any records from those providing the verification.
