Amends TCA Title 58; Title 62; Title 63 and Title 68.

Under this bill, members of the United States armed forces and honorably discharged veterans who receive training as a member of the United States armed forces will be eligible to receive equivalent credit toward an occupational license relating, if the training received while serving is consistent with the requirements for licensure, as determined by the applicable licensing authority. This bill applies to licenses regulated under TCA Title 62 (professions, businesses, and trades) and Title 63 (professions of the healing arts). In order to receive credit, the member of the armed forces or honorably discharged veteran must submit a certificate from the United States department of defense or the United States department of veterans affairs to the applicable licensing authority as evidence of training. <br /> <br /> This bill authorizes a person aggrieved by a decision of licensing authority concerning eligibility for equivalent credit under this bill to appeal to the commissioner of commerce and insurance or commissioner of health, as applicable, for a determination of whether the training meets the requirements for licensure. <br /> <br /> For the purpose of promulgating rules, this bill will take effect upon becoming law. For all other purposes, this bill will take effect on January 1, 2022. <br /> <br /> ON APRIL 5, 2021, THE HOUSE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 188, AS AMENDED.<br /> <br /> AMENDMENT #1 removes the bill's applicability to licenses regulated under Title 63 (professions of the healing arts).<br />
