Amends TCA Title 7.

ON APRIL 26, 2021, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENTS #2 AND #3, AND PASSED SENATE BILL 424, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #2 rewrites the bill. Present law, under the Convention Center and Tourism Development Financing Act of 1998, authorizes a metropolitan government that has created a tourism development zone and which tourism development zone completely includes one or more central business improvement districts to impose an additional fee of up to 0.25 percent on the sales price of services and tangible personal property sold at retail within one central business improvement district located within the tourism development zone. This amendment increases the maximum amount of the additional fee that may be charged from 0.25 percent to 0.50 percent. Under present law, the proceeds of the fee into the local government's event and marketing fund to be used only for specifies purposes. This amendment requires that the proceeds of the increased fee be distributed to the metropolitan government from which the fee was collected to be deposited into the Nashville District Management Corporation Fund of such government and used to promote safety and cleanliness in the central business improvement district located in downtown Nashville. AMENDMENT #3 changes this bill's effective date from upon becoming a law to July 1, 2021.
