Amends TCA Title 2, Chapter 13.
Present law provides that all candidates for state executive committee membership and for membership in the general assembly must be bona fide members of the political party whose election they seek. Present law further provides that a party may require by rule that candidates for its nominations be bona fide members of the party. This bill adds that a political party's rules for determining if an incumbent member of the general assembly is a bona fide member of the party must not consider the incumbent's legislative voting record. This bill specifies that "legislative voting record," for purposes of this bill, does not include votes for leadership votes for the chamber's leadership.
