ON APRIL 28, 2021, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 778, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 reduces from 40 to 30 the number of hours of in-service training that a volunteer firefighter must complete in order to qualify for the $600 payment. This amendment specifies that a person is only eligible to receive payment for the $800 firefighter pay supplement or the $600 payment for volunteer firefighters, whichever is greater, for successful completion of the person's annual in-service course. This amendment makes this bill effective upon becoming a law for rulemaking purposes.
