Amends TCA Title 3, Chapter 6.
Present law prohibits a member of the general assembly, elected official in the executive branch, member of the governor's cabinet, or cabinet level staff within the governor's office from being a lobbyist during the 12-month period immediately following departure from such office or employment. This bill extends the applicability of the above-described prohibition to all staff within the governor's office (instead of only "cabinet level staff"). This bill defines "staff" to mean any cabinet level staff, staff director of a division of the governor's office, advisory staff of the governor, or other staff within the governor's office whose job responsibilities include communicating, directly or indirectly, with an official in the legislative branch for the purpose of influencing any legislative action.
