Amends TCA Title 4; Title 56; Title 63; Title 68 and Title 71.

This bill creates a nine-member African-American infant mortality task force <br /> <br /> composed of the following:<br /> <br /> (1) The commissioner, or the commissioner's designee;<br /> <br /> (2) Two representatives appointed by and from the perinatal advisory committee, each of whom holds an advanced degree in either medicine or a social science;<br /> <br /> (3) Three licensed medical professionals, including at least two specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, appointed by the commissioner; and<br /> <br /> (4) Three experts in various relevant social science fields, appointed by the commissioner.<br /> <br /> This bill requires the task force to hold an organizational meeting and at least five additional meetings. Members of the task force will be authorized to participate in meetings electronically. Members of the task force will serve without compensation but will be eligible for travel reimbursement.<br /> <br /> This bill requires the task force to report its findings and recommendations to the chair of the health and welfare committee of the senate and the chair of the health committee of the house of representatives no later than July 1, 2022. The task force will cease to exist upon delivery of the report.<br /> <br /> NOTE: This bill requires "the commissioner" to exercise various duties concerning the African-American infant mortality task force, but this bill does not appear to specify which commissioner such requirements apply to.<br />
