Amends TCA Title 37; Title 39; Title 40 and Title 49.
Present law includes the following provisions concerning "crimes against the person":<br /> <br /> (1) A district attorney general may petition a sentencing court to request denial of suspension of sentence based on an offender's threat to public safety as indicated by a pattern of prior violent criminal behavior evidenced by convictions for at least two crimes against the person;<br /> <br /> (2) Persons convicted of a felony crime against the person are ineligible for community corrections; and<br /> <br /> (3) Cases involving crimes against the person are given judicial and prosecutorial priority over cases involving property crimes.<br /> <br /> This bill classifies aggravated burglary and especially aggravated burglary as crimes against the person.<br />
