Amends TCA Title 12, Chapter 4.
Present law prohibits state and local government entities from requiring a company bidding or contracting to provide services on a public construction project to employ individuals who reside within the jurisdiction of the state or local government or who are within a specific income range, unless otherwise required by federal law. This bill deletes such prohibition. This bill adds a requirement to present law that, notwithstanding a reciprocity agreement concerning the recognition of contractors' licenses, a person or entity that bids on a public construction project in Tennessee must hold the appropriate Tennessee contractor's license to construct such project in this state prior to bidding on the project.
