Amends TCA Title 63, Chapter 18.

This bill authorizes the massage licensure board to grant a temporary license to a person who has been licensed, registered, or certified, in good standing, in another state, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia, if the state or territory meets all other requirements for reciprocity pursuant to present law except for the requirement for successful passage of a competency examination. In order to obtain licensure through reciprocity, a person granted a temporary license must: (1) Successfully complete a competency exam approved by the board; and (2) Submit verification of successful completion of the competency exam to the board within six months of the date of issuance of the temporary license. A person granted a temporary license must work under the supervision of a massage therapist licensed in this state. A temporary license will expire six months after the date of issuance, but the person granted a temporary license may apply for one extension of the person's temporary license for an additional six months if: (1) The person has been unable to take a competency exam approved by the board within the initial temporary license period; and is registered to take an upcoming competency exam approved by the board; or (2) The person is still waiting for the results of the most recent competency exam approved by the board.
