ON MARCH 3, 2022, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 1996, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 removes this bill's provision that would have increased, from 60 days to 120 days, the maximum period of time a motor vehicle may be operated with a temporary plate issued by a dealer. This amendment also increases the fee for the plate from $5.50 to $6.50 (instead of $11.00 as proposed under the bill as introduced).
