Generally, TennCare’s coverage of pregnant women currently includes approximately 60 days of postpartum coverage following the end of the pregnancy. This bill provides that a woman is eligible for TennCare, while pregnant, if the woman meets eligibility requirements for assistance under federal law and continues to meet the requirements, except for income. Under this bill, the woman will be eligible to receive assistance up until 12 months following the date the pregnancy ends.
