ON APRIL 4, 2022, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 2230, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 rewrites this bill. Present law generally prohibits an elected official or an employee of a municipal, county, state, or federal governmental body or agency from serving as a member of a county election commission. This amendment adds that the general prohibition in present law does not disqualify an employee of a county or city school system who does not work directly under the supervision of an elected official from serving as a member of the county election commission.
