ON MARCH 3, 2022, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 2427, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 specifies that the exception from the definition of "drug paraphernalia" for narcotic testing equipment used to determine whether a controlled substance contains a synthetic opioid will not apply if the narcotic testing equipment is possessed for purposes of the defendant's commission of a drug-related criminal offense involving the manufacture, delivery, or sale of a controlled substance. This amendment also repeals the exception on July 1, 2025.
