Amends TCA Section 4-3-2206.
Present law specifies certain powers and duties of the commissioner of tourist development, acting through the tourism division and in accordance with the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the state publications committee. This bill removes the reference to the commissioner "acting through the tourism division and in accordance with the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the state publications committee." This bill also: (1) Authorizes and empowers the commissioner to develop and implement activities, grants, and programs that foster the growth of tourism in this state; and (2) Designates the department of tourist development as the department responsible for the implementation and administration of all marketing and promotion, tourism partner services, and economic development projects.
