ON MARCH 10, 2022, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 2443, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 rewrites this bill to authorize the Tennessee public utilities commission to, upon petition, designate a provider or reseller of domestic public cellular radio telephone service as an eligible telecommunications carrier pursuant to federal regulations for purposes of providing Lifeline service. This amendment authorizes the commission to promulgate rules to effectuate the purposes of this amendment.
