Amends TCA Title 2.
This bill revises and adds various provisions regarding elections, as follows: (1) This bill reduces, from 30 days to 15 days prior to an election, the time period for persons to register to vote; (2) This bill requires election commissions to maintain a system on their website to enable persons to verify the status of their voter registration application in real time as denoted by a timeline. The division of elections in the office of the secretary of state must develop, maintain, and make the system available to the commissions; (3) This bill requires county election commissions to conduct a uniform training program for poll watchers not later than 45 days prior to each federal primary election. The coordinator of elections must develop and implement the training program and educational materials to be used in the training program, in consultation with county election commissioners from each political party; and (4) This bill requires the division of elections to create a program for county election commissioners to recruit eligible persons from community colleges to become poll watchers. The division must collaborate with the community colleges and local election commissions in creating the program.
