Amends TCA Title 40.
This bill requires a magistrate to order a defendant to wear or carry a global positioning monitoring system device and pay the operational costs for the device, if able, as a condition of bail if: (1) The defendant was arrested for a criminal offense generally classified as "offenses against person," such as assault and homicide; or for violation of an order of protection; and (2) The alleged offense or violation involved the strangulation or attempted strangulation of the victim or the use or threatened use of a firearm against the victim.
