Amends TCA Title 53, Chapter 8 and Title 68, Chapter 14.

This bill allows a mobile food unit, which is defined as a food service establishment that is designed to be readily moveable, to operate on private property with the owner's permission if the mobile food unit holds a permit under the Tennessee Food Safety Act. This bill requires a mobile food unit to: (1) Be maintained in good operating order; (2) Provide a marked waste receptacle for customers and request customers use the receptacle; (3) Collect, remove, and dispose of all trash within 25 feet of the mobile food unit at the conclusion of service; (4) Submit and pass health inspections; and (5) Annually submit to and pass one local fire inspection in this state. This bill prohibits local authorities from regulating or prohibiting the operations of a mobile food unit on private property, except to enforce a health or fire inspection. Also, a local authority will be prohibited from requiring a mobile food unit to submit to a local fire inspection or obtain a fire permit, if the mobile food unit provides proof that the mobile food unit has submitted to and passed one local fire inspection anywhere in the state within the past year.
