Amends TCA Title 62, Chapter 13, Part 3.

This bill exempts real estate brokers from continuing education requirements for license renewal under certain circumstances. Under present law: (1) Within three years from the date of issuance of an original broker's license, the licensee must furnish certification of satisfactory completion of an additional 120 classroom hours in real estate at any school, college or university approved by the real estate commission as a requisite for the reissuance of the license; and (2) Beginning with the license period immediately following the period in which the licensee completes the 120 hours of education, the licensee of a broker's license originally issued after January 1, 2005, must furnish certification of satisfactory completion of 16 classroom hours in real estate courses at any school, college or university approved by the commission as a requisite for the reissuance of the license every two years. This bill exempts a broker from the continuing education requirements described above in (2) for license renewal, if the broker: (1) Is in good standing with the commission; (2) Has been licensed for at least 10 years; and (3) Has completed at least 200 hours of continuing education in real estate courses at a school, college, or university approved by the commission.
