Amends TCA Section 8-27-205.

Generally under present law, the state insurance committee establishes a health benefit for state employees who are retired. Present law requires the committee to establish a schedule of premiums and authorizes the committee to establish a schedule of defined contributions for retirees eligible for the health benefits so established. The schedule must be graduated to reflect the retiree's length of service. Under present law, retirees with: 30 or more years of service receive 80 percent of the scheduled premium or defined contribution; 20 years of service, but less than 30 years of service receive 70 percent of the scheduled premium or defined contribution; and less than 20 years of service must receive 60 percent of the scheduled premium or defined contribution. Present law provides a separate provision whereby a Tennessee Highway patrol member who is a retiree with 25 years of service receives 80 percent of the scheduled premium or defined contribution; this bill adds wildlife officers to this provision.
