Amends TCA Title 49, Chapter 13.
ON APRIL 6, 2023, THE HOUSE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 36, AS AMENDED.<br /> <br /> AMENDMENT #1 makes the following changes and additions to this bill and present law concerning charter schools that are identified as priority schools:<br /> <br /> (1) Prohibits both the 2022 and 2023 priority school list from being considered as one of the priority school cycles required for automatic revocation of a public charter school agreement;<br /> <br /> (2) Removes the provision that limits application of the automatic revocation requirement to situations where each of the two consecutively issued priority school lists identify priority schools based on an evaluation of no less than three consecutive years of all schools' performance data; and<br /> <br /> (3) Prohibits application of the present law permissive revocation provision, whereby an authorizer may revoke a public charter school agreement if the public charter school receives identification as a priority school for any single year, based on the public charter school being identified as a priority school on the priority school list issued in 2022 or 2023.<br />
