Amends TCA Title 63 and Title 68.

This bill increases the number of days that a healthcare provider has to furnish a patient's medical records to a patient, or a patient's representative, after receipt of a written request as described below.<br /> <br /> Present law requires a healthcare provider to furnish to a patient, or a patient's authorized representative, a copy or summary of the patient's medical records, at the option of the healthcare provider, within 10 working days upon request in writing by the patient or representative. Present law provides that if a provider fails to comply with this requirement, then proper notice must be given to the provider's licensing board or boards, and the provider may be subject to disciplinary actions that include sanctions and a monetary fine.<br /> <br /> This bill increases the number of days a healthcare provider has to furnish the patient's medical records from 10 to 20 working days from the date of a written request.<br />
