Amends TCA Title 5, Chapter 5 and Title 6.
This bill prohibits persons from serving on both a county and legislative governing body simultaneously in Montgomery, Williamson, Rutherford, Hamilton, Knox, Davidson, or Shelby County. This bill's prohibitions do not apply to the governing body of a metropolitan government.<br /> <br /> This bill prohibits a person from serving on a county legislative body while serving on the governing body of a municipality located in whole or in part within the county or with which it shares a coterminous or contiguous boundary. A person serving on a county legislative body to whom this prohibition would apply on the date this bill becomes a law may serve out the remainder of the term of office on the county legislative body. <br /> <br /> Similarly, this bill prohibits a person from serving on the governing body of a municipality while serving on the governing body of a county in which the municipality is located in whole or in part or with which it shares a coterminous or contiguous boundary. A person serving on a municipal governing body to whom this prohibition would apply on the date that this bill becomes a law may serve out the remainder of the term of office on the municipal governing body.<br />
