ON FEBRUARY 22, 2024, THE HOUSE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 1733, AS AMENDED.<br /> <br /> AMENDMENT #1 rewrites the bill to, instead:<br /> <br /> (1) Prohibit a state entity from submitting payment with an entity that has engaged in a cybersecurity incident on an information technology system by encrypting data and then subsequently offering to decrypt that data in exchange for a ransom payment; and<br /> <br /> (2) Require a state entity experiencing a ransom request in connection with a cybersecurity incident to immediately notify and consult with the technology and innovation division of the Tennessee bureau of investigation.<br />
