Amends TCA Title 40 and Title 41, Chapter 21, Part 2.

Present law provides that, in imposing a misdemeanor sentence, a court must fix a percentage of the sentence that the defendant must serve. After service of such a percentage of the sentence, the defendant is eligible for consideration for work release, furlough, trusty status, and related rehabilitative programs. The percentage must be expressed as 0 percent, 10 percent, 20 percent, 30 percent, 40 percent, 50 percent, 60 percent, 70 percent but not in excess of 75 percent.<br /> <br /> This bill rewrites the last sentence of the above provisions to provide, instead, that the percentage must be expressed as 0 percent, 10 percent, 20 percent, 30 percent, 40 percent, 50 percent, 60 percent, 70 percent, 75 percent, 80 percent, 90 percent, or 100 percent.<br />
