Amends TCA Title 4, Chapter 3 and Title 68, Chapter 1.
ON FEBRUARY 29, 2024, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 1843, AS AMENDED.<br /> <br /> AMENDMENT #1 makes the following changes to the bill:<br /> <br /> (1) Removes the requirement that the department of health work in conjunction with the department of environment and conservation while investigating reports of the amount of diagnoses of cancer and Parkinson's disease, and removes the requirement that the department of health investigate other significant health-related issues in this state, as well as any environmental factors that may be associated with cancer, Parkinson's disease, and other significant health-related issues;<br /> <br /> (2) Amends the requirement that the department of health submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the health and welfare committee of the senate, the health committee of the house, the energy, agriculture and natural resources committee of the senate, and the agriculture and natural resources committee of the house no later than July 1, 2025 by removing the energy, agriculture, and natural resources committee of the senate and the agriculture and natural resources committee of the house from the list of entities to whom the report must be submitted; and<br /> <br /> (3) Adds that the information reported in (2) above must be produced in accordance with applicable state and federal law to maintain the confidentiality of individually identifiable health information.<br />
