Amends TCA Title 49, Chapter 4, Part 7.

ON APRIL 23, 2024, THE HOUSE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 2180, AS AMENDED.<br /> <br /> AMENDMENT #1 makes the following changes:<br /> <br /> (1) Revises the bill by providing that, as used in the bill, an "eligible postsecondary institution" means an eligible independent postsecondary institution or an eligible public postsecondary institution or means a private nonprofit postsecondary institution that (i) has established a partnership with this state pursuant to a memorandum of understanding executed in 2013; (ii) is accredited by a regional accrediting association; (iii) uses a competency-based model of education; (iv) has established and continuously maintains a physical campus or location of operation within this state; (v) maintains a governing body or advisory board based in this state with oversight of operations in this state; (vi) has been chartered in this state as a nonprofit entity for at least five consecutive years; and (vii) provides an approved EPP;<br /> <br /> (2) Deletes the present law requiring that to be eligible for a Tennessee Future Teacher scholarship, an eligible candidate must maintain the minimum cumulative grade point average required by the approved EPP; and<br /> <br /> (3) Provides that, subject to the amounts appropriated by the general assembly, the amount of a Tennessee Future Teacher scholarship at an eligible postsecondary institution is the average cost of tuition and mandatory fees charged to all students for coursework leading to completion of an approved undergraduate EPP at the state's public institutions less all other gift aid. The gift aid must be credited first to tuition and mandatory fees before the Tennessee Future Teacher scholarship is applied.<br />
