Amends TCA Title 38; Title 39 and Title 40.

ON MARCH 25, 2024, THE HOUSE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 2395, AS AMENDED.<br /> <br /> AMENDMENT #1 rewrites the bill to make changes to the present law regarding false reports, as described below.<br /> <br /> Present law provides that it is unlawful for a person to intentionally initiate or circulate a report of a past, present, or impending bombing, fire or other emergency, knowing that the report is false or baseless and knowing (i) it will cause action of any sort by an official or volunteer agency organized to deal with those emergencies; (ii) it will place a person in fear of imminent serious bodily injury; or (iii) it will prevent or interrupt the occupation of any building, place of assembly, form of conveyance, or any other place to which the public has access.<br /> <br /> This amendment adds to the present law by including active shooter and hostage situation to the above present law. Additionally, this amendment adds to the present law by providing that it is also unlawful for any person to intentionally initiate or circulate a report of a past, present, or impending bombing, active shooter, hostage situation, fire, or other emergency, knowing that the report is false or baseless and knowing it will prevent or interrupt the occupation of a private residence or residential building.<br />
